Hi! I hit a 32 day streak on the app I use for tracking calories, LifeSum, today. Have I gone over my calorie goal at times? Yes. In fact my goal is 1530 calories and the app says my average calories per day are 1550. Even so, I've lost weight (6 pounds so far) and am proud of myself.
A funny thing I've noticed: calorie tracking is a lot like sticking to a financial budget. It's tempting to cheat: "I just ate a few chocolate chips (my personal weakness); I don't need to put that in" is a lot like my former habit of "It's just $20; I don't need to enter that into my budget app." But in the long run, I'm only cheating myself.
A few years ago I got sober and got out of debt (well that was with the partnership of my husband). I really think my weight loss journey this time will be more successful because I'm drawing on the habits I learned from sobriety and financial honesty.
Thanks for reading; it's nice to be able to reflect on all this!
