Why is sex knowledge considered a taboo for children and every effort is made to hide it in every possible way from them? In what way can this knowledge or awareness harm them? What has been the experience of countries like Denmark in this regard?

Sex should be treated with the same regard as other subjects in a matter of fact way.

Just like we teach the rudiments of nature as suits the different ages of children, so too the basics of sex must be taught starting in an indirect manner as found in nature and then gravitate to plain facts as the kids grow older. Such that by 16 years of age they are kind of theoretical experts in the subject.

This approach of imparting a good understanding will help them understand and respect the relationship between the sexes. This will help in reducing teen pregnancies and sex crimes.

In short, we need to be sex positive all the way. This attitude is more beneficial to everyone in the society. Maybe, we need to learn from the highly developed Scandinavian countries in this regard.
