I wanted to share a success moment this evening as I'm home sick with COVID this week.
Context: gained about 25lbs during the pandemic through poor eating and depression. Working hard now to reverse both.
One thing I've always done when I'm sick is focus on eating really basic, nutritious foods. I try to avoid greasy, fatty stuff as it is just too heavy when my appetite isn't as big and I'm feeling tired, etc.
So catching the 'rona actually reminded me how awesome simple foods are. It reminded me that food is literally my FUEL for recovery. Tonight for dinner I made a very simple Mexican rice and black beans dish, with a side of red pepper hummus and carrots/pretzel thins. I feel so good despite being sick, lol! I will keep this up post-recovery and use food to help bring me back to the weight I was before the pandemic began in 2020.
Just a fluff post and a reminder that when your body is being taxed physically, emotionally, mentally, etc. that simple, fresh, nutritious food is so INVIGORATING.
