Hi. I’m looking for any recommendations or resources to help lose weight as a young female with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) and IBS.
I started gaining weight shortly after I got the nexplanon arm implant 2 years ago. It got even worse when the pandemic was in full-force. By now, I’ve gained about 70lbs over the past 2 years and developed terrible stretch marks. For reference, I’m 5’8” and used to weigh 150lbs. Now I am 220lbs and I hate my body. None of my clothes fit and my breasts are so big that they cause me rashes and severe neck & back pain. I’ve started getting migraines. I’ve also had chronic and painful diarrhea and hemorrhoids since August of 2021. I don’t know what is happening to me. I am losing myself. I don’t know who I am anymore.
For the better part of these past 2 years I’ve been sick due to heavy periods or migraines or bowel problems or nausea but none of my doctors know why. I’ve gotten all the blood tests and stool tests and everything is normal or inconclusive. I’m so tired of being sick.
To try to lose weight for the past few months, I’ve considerably cut back on sugar and I usually only eat 1 big meal at lunch, and healthy snacks when I’m hungry throughout the rest of the day. I try to eat fresh, healthy foods but I’ve not felt inclined to track what I’m eating for a fear of a downward spiral. I’ve gone to the gym 3-4 times every week for around 90 min each time. I always do 30+ minutes of cardio and ~60 minutes of weight lifting/training machines. At home, I do 10-15 minutes of strenuous yoga daily and I take lots of walks. My job also requires me to be relatively active.
So why can I not lose weight? I just want to be healthy again. When you lose your health do you finally realize how valuable it was. I’m so tired of being sick every day. Thanks ✌🏼
